The Golden Well is a wonderful hotel in a fantastic location offering impeccable service. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, offering old world charm without sparing modern amenities. The hotel is less than a five minute walk to the Charles bridge, infant of Prague church, and the tram or metro. It has it's own private gate to Prague Castle. The service from the moment of arrival to checkout is incomparable. The breakfast is wonderful, offering a large buffet as well as a plethora of cooked to order selections. The restaurant is absolutely amazing with an incredible tasting as well as a la carte menu, nice wine list, great service, and world class city views. We can't wait to return!

“We Can't Say Enough”
My wife and I just returned from three nights and four days in Prague and we were lucky to stay at the Golden Well. It is truly a wonderful hotel in a perfect location, just below the castle, to discover all the sights of Prague. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived at the airport (they coordinated our pickup), to our early check-in, to our welcome drink on the terrace overlooking the city, to our newly remodeled bathroom, to the fruit in the room, to the high-quality bathing products, to our delicious "Good Night" treat each evening next to our bed, we really couldn't have asked for anything more.
Everyone in this small (17 rooms, 2 suites) and special hotel were eager to help out in any way they could. If we ever return to Prague, we know where we are staying.
Stayed May 2013, traveled as a couple

“Treated like royalty”
This is our second trip to Prague and a stay at the Golden Well. We will not stay at any other hotel. This little gem of a hotel makes you feel like royalty. Nothing is too difficult for the staff. Ask once and it is done. The hotel is impecable. The" little niceties" are apparent in the late night desserts left in your room. The 4-6PM refreshment times are appreciated after a day long exploration of Prague.
Location to Old Town and resturants was great. Why stay anywhere else when you can experience the "best of Prague" at the Golden Well

“A hidden gem and totally unique experience!”
From the moment of my booking this, I could tell this was a great hotel. I had wanted a driver to pick us up at airport and the hotel was quick to reply to my email requests. Once we arrived at the end of the street near the hotel (The driver could not pull all the way up the small alley to the hotel), we were greeted by a bellman who quickly took our luggage and introduced us to the on-duty manager. The manager took approx. 30 minutes to show us completely around the hotel, including time on their rooftop restaurant that overlooks the city for a quick "welcome drink". Our room was super comfortable, and upon checking in, we had wine, fruit and cheeses waiting in our room for us. We loved that it was connected to the Prague Castle and you could take a short cut from the rooftop to the castle grounds. We ended up walking almost everywhere from the hotel to Charles Bridge, etc...but we did have the hotel hire us a car to take us out to the countryside (including Bone Church) and even that was reasonable for a6 hour car hire. We would not hesitate to stay there again, and I highly recommend it. (we stayed in May of 2011)

“An amazing hotel - they think of everything to make your stay relaxing and memorable.”
I had experienced the Golden Well before and had always said that I would return. My husband and I stayed there in April on their Romantic Break package. Amazing. We were picked up in a Mercedes and taken to the door. On arrival, we received glasses of bucks Fizz and warm hand towels whilst we checked in. When shown to our room, there were candles on the floor and all around the room, with rose petals in the shape of a heart on the bed and a bottle of red wine and a cheese board on the table.
Breakfast in the restaurant has more choices that I could have imagined. Their home made yoghurt was delicious as was the Eggs Benedict that I chose . Pure decadence but it tasted amazing.
With its own private gate to the Royal Gardens and access to the castle area, whilst looking out of Prague rooftops, the hotel is is in amazing position.
The little extras of good night cakes, of hot towels at the table before you eat, DVD's to rent, free wine and refeshments in the lounge between 4-6pm, little nooks and crannies around the hotel with amazing antique furniture, and every one who works there can't do enough to help you.
It is simply the best hotel I have ever stayed in and would recommend it to anyone. Expensive but I knew that and it is worth every koruna or euro that you spend. It cannot be faulted in any way. Just go there for an amzing experience.

In one word - Sublime.
It's SO hard to choose the highlight from:
* The welcome, the tour including a tasty snack from the restaurent and complimentary welcome drink
* The 4pm-6pm freebie wine and nibbles (different every day)
* The domestic staff who clean your room and leave it gleaming
* The 'cake fairy' who turns down your bed (between 6pm and 10pm) leaving your slippers on a mat by the bed, the lamps on, the curtains drawn, the tv cabinet opened, the remote controls for the tv and dvd player on a bed, a slip on the remote tray detailing the weather for the next day, the first-night pillow menu (I kid you not!) and best of all, each night, a different little individual home-made cake beside your bed
* The option of having a bath run for you to arrive back to at night
* The ASTOUNDING breakfast buffet including home-made yoghurt, proper hot-chocolate, champagne, choice of 'Benedict Eggs' with dreamy hollandaise amongst a myriad of equally delicious options (some less calorific, some equally so... if you're on holiday who cares?! We certainly didn't event attempt to go for low-cal options but they were there if you wanted them)
* The restaurant staff
* The frond-desk staff (Simon, in particular, was incredibly friendly and helpful without that awful 'cheese' factor you can get elsewhere... we'd trust his views and assistance without fail)
* The in-room welcome wine and nibbles (we opted for red wine and cheese... divine)
* The in-room ipad to use throughout your stay
* The in-room pre-loaded ipod and speakers with a variety of playlists for relaxing to
* The private restaurant-terrace entrance to the rose-gardens of Prague Castle
* The views
* The lot!
...the only things we could remotely find (very small) fault with were:
A) The chauffeur service as we were collected at the airport.
Not because the car wasn't immaculate and the driver quiet, confident, safe and quick (he was brilliant) but because of cracks in his windscreen (huge ones either side) - which the Golden Well assured us had been investigated with the car company they use. I highly doubt anyone else would have this issue and we were delighted with the drivers for both journeys!
B) Noise levels.
One of us sleeps lightly at first in new locations, and we were located on the top floor (4th), one of only 2 rooms up there, and it was remarkably handy for the restaurant with stunning views, the room itself being spotless. But because the restaurant is so popular (it is one of the top restaurants in Prague and with good reason) and we were the nearest room beside the lift, we did hear the comings and goings of restaurant guests and other hotel visitors heading to the restaurant. Whilst this didn't go late into the night, it did make an early night a little difficult. We didn't mention this to the Golden Well in all fairness as it's an over-sensitive issue on my part rather than a fault on theirs (and a surprising one as I'm a relatively young person who bucks the trend and likes an early quiet night rather than coming in later in the evening), but it is worth knowing if you sleep lightly and like early nights as it might be wise to ensure you aren't on the top floor.
These are small pedantic issues which didn't remotely distract from our relaxing and joyous stay at this exceedingly wonderful, classy, upmarket and utterly unfussy but luxurious place. Every member of staff, without exception, are incredibly professional and discreet - there just the moment you need them without being 'in your face' when you don't. It was 5* boutique luxury without the pomp you'd get elsewhere.
We had an absolute blast in Prague and the Golden Well Hotel played a huge part in that. THANK YOU to the staff, who couldn't have been more helpful - keep doing what you do, you're amazingly good at it, all of you.
Look at all of the reviews here - and believe the warmth and enthusiasm with which guests talk about their experience here. It fully deserves the 'hype'. DO NOT HESITATE to book this place. It is worth every single penny.
Every.
Single.
One.

Great experience in luxury hotel
I went to Prague for 3 days – 2 days for work and 1 day as holliday to see this wounerful city. Golden Well hotel was planned just as an accomondation, but in the end become one of the best experiences in Prague. All hotel staff was so welcoming, kind and helpful - a great team. Usually I can see few staff members very nice, some others less, but in Golden Well everybody are very professional and briliant. They make me fell like a very important person.
Room was very beautiful, clean and comfortable. Good quality products in the bathroom. Large bath – very relaxing after long day. I loved fruits on the table and small cakes in the evening.
Best breakfast I have had with wonderful view on the roofs of Prague. Everything was fresh and very delicious; I loved their homemade yogurt, natural tea and “Royal breakfast”.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Prague.

Charming, well-run, characterful hotel
This is an excellent, elegant hotel full of character and style run by a staff who are unfailingly polite, helpful, efficient, welcoming and friendly. It is in a quiet, timeless backwater right below the Castle in the central ambassadorial and parliamentary area, away from the tourist throng yet a short walk from decent restaurants and historic landmarks. The rooms are attractively furnished in keeping with the history of the hotel yet offer every modern amenity: complimentary room iPad, iPod, Nespresso machine, flatscreen TV, wine and cheese and fruit, evening pastries at turn-down. Breakfast in the Terasa restaurant is copious and imaginative and its view of the Prague skyline is incomparable. The management's assistance with bookings, recommendations and transfers is first class.

“We felt like royalty. A luxurious, relaxing stay.”
We were lucky enough to be treated at work and taken on a long weekend break to Prague. We were extremely fortune to be staying in such an amazing hotel as well.
The Golden Well hotel was so luxiourus, we really felt so looked after. The staff were more than accommodating in every possible way and the food was divine. Each of our rooms had underfloor heating, comfy beds and little sweet treats waiting for us each evening. Being so looked after made it feel like a longer holiday as it was so relaxing, I just wish we could have spend more time in our rooms!
Stayed December 2012

“Wonderful stay in a very special hotel!”
We arrived at the hotel late at night without one bag as it had been left behind at Heathrow by the airline. They could not have been more helpful in trying to track it for us and returning it as soon as it arrived.
Our room was gorgeous. We could see the rooftops of Prague from our windows. The bathroom had a jacuzzi bath which was lovely after a day of sightseeing!!
Breakfast in the upstairs restaurant was delicious. They were happy to provide food that wasn't on the menu. Their yogurt was homemade and out of this world!!!
It was very conveniently located for the castle. Other reviews mentioned feeling safe near the police station although I have to say that most of the time we were there police presence was scarce.
Overall we had a wonderful time at a gorgeous hotel and would definitely recommend it!

“Whilst it would be good to keep this hotel a secret....”
It deserves to have its praises sung out loud. We stayed there during early December. The rooms were beautifully appointed. Not with fussy tea trays etc but with classy luxuries like an iPad, Molton Brown, fresh fruit, fine linen.....The staff were unobtrusively helpful. Being a small hotel, it felt as if we were the only guests.
The breakfast was sublime. After all we had heard, the buffet initially looked a bit small but that's because most of what you choose is on the Al La Carte menu. After a beautifully cooked first course (maybe Eggs Benedict or a full English), you feel as if you could eat it all over again, at which point you are asked if you would like a dessert. The menu reappears and you can choose pancakes, French toast, fruit salad... And, yes its true, there is sparkling wine too! And, the coffee is excellent.
As a party of four we had two rooms. Neither had views. So if you want a room with a view its probably best to say so when booking. However, the view from the restaurant was amazing both with and without snow!
The rooms were on the warm side but the temperature was adjusted for us on request. The location is exceptionally quiet (in an upmarket part of Prague) and we slept very well. But still walking distance from the Charles Bridge and other sights, restaurants and shops.
Almost forgot, the 4pm buffet snacks and wine in the Lounge. Each day these were different - small delicious bites, both sweet and savoury.
We really weren't ready to leave this hotel. If you need looking after - this is the place!

“Simply stunning!!”
I'm not sure that my review will really do justice to our stay at the Golden Well, it was simply sublime! From the simple luxury of the room, to the delicious breakfast and wonderful service we felt like royalty throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderfully friendly staff; I even returned from a night at the opera on the my birthday to find a birthday cake (that looked like a work of art) left in our room, complementary of the hotel. The restaurant also arranged to open late for us to have room service when we returned from the opera that evening. I can not rate this hotel highly enough, I was just disappointed not to have had time to fit in a meal at the highly acclaimed hotel restaurant, there is simply too much to see in the evening in Prague.
To sum up our stay in one word; magical!

“Boutique feel - believe the reviews!!”
Stayed here in September 2012 with my husband for 3 nights. An adorable hotel that has me wanting to return to Prague simply to stay there again. It's expensive but you can see what you're paying for. A refreshing glass of bubbly and amuse-bouches on the terrace on arrival, and an overview of the city given by a very welcoming staff member. He was very happy to answer any questions and provide suggestions on where to start exploring this beautiful city. Before bed each night we were delighted to discover freshly made profiterles/chocolates/strawberry treats on our pillow.
Breakfast is a lavish feast, best breakfast I have had in any hotel worldwide, all served in their beautiful restaurant with a panaromic view of the city.
Bonus: they provide (unlimited) delicious czech wine every evening between 5-7pm in the library together with fresh juice/mineral water and nibbles. Its a genuinely nice aperitif, compared with other hotels which offer the same but dont deliver in terms of wine quality etc.
I think very fondly of this hotel and have no hesitation in saying it's the nicest place we have stayed in a long while.

When in Prague, stay at this hotel
There are a lot of great hotels, but staying at some of them you feel like you could be anywhere in the world. It is definitely not the case with Golden Well hotel that to me seemed to represent the quintessence of Prague. Everything about it - the architecture, the location, room design and the views both from our room and the Terrace restaurant reflected the miracle of this jaw-dropping city. I was there for business, but we did walk around the Old Town and like some other reviewers noted, I found the Mala Stana location much nicer for staying. The Old Town, although very beautiful, has losts of crowds and is very busy. The area where the Golden Well is located is very quiet especially at night and creates a feeling as if time has stopped there. On our first night the concierge recommended Palfy Palace restaurant for dinner. I would highly recommend this place, only 5 minute walk from the hotel, not only for its food, but also for the atmosphere. Looked like a very upscale place mainly filled with beautifully dressed locals. Prague is definitely not to be missed as a place to visit, and even one visit would not be enough for it. I miss it already as well as the warmth and comfort of the Golden Well hotel and its highly professional friendly personnel.

“The best Hotel to stay in Prague - without question.”
I have stayed at a lot of "world class" hotels and I can not remember being treated as nicely as my experience at The Golden Well. From the moment we arrived on the property we were warmly greeted, provided a brief tour of the key features of the hotel, given a glass of champagne, and finally escorted to our room. The service and attention from all staff members was outstanding. All staff members were warm and friendly in attending to our requests.
Other hotel staffs should visit the Golden Well to see how a truly customer focused hotel is operated.
The location is excellent. It is near the castle with it's own entrance. Just minutes from a tram stop and a 10 minute walk to the Charles Bridge.
Breakfast is a treat as you look over the Old City - the view is magnificent. The food and service at breakfast in a word was - superb.
The restaurant is the best in town. The food and service again is impeccable. The view at night from the terrace memorable.
This was one of our best hotel experiences in a long, long time.

“Best of the best”
Fantastic location, we were able to walk to every major tourist attraction. Personal espresso machine in room was a great touch. We especially enjoyed the complimentary afternoon drinks and nibbles. The terrace restaurant had a fantastic view and service. The restaurant is world class. Last year it was voted #1 in Prague When in Prague this is the only place to stay.

“Best Hotel & Restaurant in Prague”
The sum total of staff attention, location, atmosphere, food, and generous attention to detail results in our high recommendation of the Golden Well.
No sounds of traffic could be heard from our spacious room, just the incredible view of Prague. After a lovely day walking around the Prague Castle & St. Vitus’ Cathedral, we walked through the castle gardens, through the hotel gate, into THE BEST RESTURANT in Prague, “Terasa” at U Zlaté Studné, at the top of the Golden Well hotel. Dining here was an experience in decadence. For dinner, we selected the “Menu de Dégustation”, the food & wine pairing, which we highly recommend and will remember forever with much pleasure. Each morning’s breakfast presented fresh, delicious and varied selections (truffle eggs!), afternoon “tea” brought wine and cheese, and each night ended with selections of pastries or chocolates. Both the hotel and restaurant staff were gracious and thoughtful, spoke perfect English, and gladly arranged theatre and opera tickets and all our other requests. We will look for reasons to return to the Golden Well.

Perfection!
This has to be the best hotel we've been to in Europe! From the moment we were picked up at the airport to the moment we were dropped off the hotel exceeded our expectations. When we arrived someone was there to bring our bags into reception. We sat with Stanislav as he checked us in and explained everything the hotel had to offer. He was also able to get us a reservation for dinner at the hotel's restaurant for that night. He was so friendly and helpful (the other staff members were very friendly as well).
The hotel is located in a quiet location about a 5-10 minute walk from the Charles Bridge. There are many restaurants about a 5 minute walk away. At the end of the day it was nice to be away from the crowds and come back to the serenity of Golden Well.
When we went to our room we fell in love. Frank Sinatra was playing on the ipod dock and a cheese plate was waiting for us. Also included in our room rate was water, fruit, and a bottle of wine. We were also given a small dessert every night during the turn down service. The room was very comfortable! The bed, sheets, and comforter lured us into sleep each night. There was even a pillow menu, which we didn't use, where you can order different types of pillows according to your needs/wants.
The breakfast, which was included in our rate, was spectacular! Not only was there fruit, meats, cheeses, all kinds of juices, teas, and champagne, but there was also a menu featuring eggs, french toast, pancakes, oatmeal, salmon, and many more items. The main restaurant allows direct access to the road leading to the palace and gardens.
We will definitely return to Golden Well the next time we're in Prague. We will recommend it to all of our friends and family and won't stay anywhere else in Prague!

Definitely select the Golden Well!
I cannot be more complimentary of the Golden Well hotel and staff. If you are traveling to Prague, your trip will be high-lighted by your stay here. The hotel is "hidden" in a very quiet cul de sac below the famed castle. It would have been difficult to locate without the extremely courteous and friendly driver arranged by the hotel to pick us up at the airport. With only 19 rooms, it is definitely a boutique hotel. The rooms are tastefully decorated with hardwood floors and lovely bedding, and we were greeted by a lovely fresh fruit arrangement, with chocolates on our pillows at turn-in. So special! The bath is great with luxury products, and the vanity has excellent lighting. To top this off, you will enjoy a large jacuzzi tub, which was wonderful after our nightmare of flight delays, cancelled flights and lost baggage. But the extremely helpful staff of Golden Well made all these hardships evaporate with their solicitous manner. Inclusive breakfast served atop the hotel in a glassed room overlooking the city starts your day off wonderfully. And the breakfast was DE-licious, the best we had on our two week European travels. They make their own yogurt with fresh fruit preserves on the bottom, served in charming glass containers. And don't miss out on the oatmeal. It is steel-cut and so creamy that I looked forward to it each of the three mornings of our stay. In the afternoon, the chef served complimentary appetizers and wine in a reception room off the lobby. The staff truly caters to their guests! If all this does not convince you to stay at the Golden Well, I cannot imagine what will! But as I read other reviews on this website, I see many others experienced the "wonderfulness" of the Golden Well. Don't miss out!

“Felt like royalty”
We have been fortunate to stay at many lovely hotels, but none come close to the sheer beauty and amazing service of this hotel. The views of Prague, the food, the short cut access to the castle and the kindness of the staff made this a wonderful once in a lifetime experience. We could not get over all the extra complimentary services. A highlight of our vacation.

“An Absolute Gem”
We were absolutely overwhelmed from the moment we walked through the door by the welcoming staff and beautifully appointed room. This boutique hotel, if it's within your price range, is a must if visiting Prague. I can't speak highly enough of the hotel or all the little extras offered e.g. a computer printout each morning of the news from home, fresh fruit daily, a bottle of wine upon arrival and a little "sweetie goodness" each evening. The A la Carte breakfast was superb and the Terrace Restaurant (one of Prague's best) with an award winning Chef and wonderful views across Prague rooftops is worth a visit. The location is close to many of the major attractions - Prague Castle sits directly behind the hotel (but sadly one can't enter via the back door!)

“An oasis in Prague”
Six couples were traveling for almost three weeks with our last stop being the Golden Well. It was definitely a wonderful ending experience for our trip. From the time we arrived and were greeted by Adela who provided a tour, complimentary beverage, and overview of the city, we felt very pampered. The accommodations are impeccable: the cosmetics, top shelf; the staff attentive and helpful; daily fresh fruit, and a delicious dessert in our room in the evening; the cuisine in the restaurant was inventive and the staff enhanced the experience. It was a perfect location with access to the Castle, but away from the crowds, and a short walk to the heart of Prague. A wonderful time in a charming boutique hotel. Thank you to all of the wonderful people at the Golden Well.

“Wonderful Stay on Prague”
We stayed at Golden Well early April this year during our Spring break and had two rooms.. Despite the weather being a bit chilly in Prague ,our stay at UZlate Studne was fantastic. Upon our arrival , folks at check in greeted us with cool and cleansing peppermint scented towels and our bags were whisked away to our rooms as we were given a tour of the facilities and had a refreshing complimentary drink on the terrace. Dinner that evening at Terrase was excellent. Table settings were beautiful and the view of the city from the terrace was just spectacular. A cool evening was made very tolerable by lots of heat lamps,a covered awning and cozy plaid blankets to keep out the chill. Venison arrived cooked perfectly (medium ) without a hint of gaminess. It was a very memorable meal. The only thing negative about Czech is that they still smoke a lot !! The inside restaurant of the hotel is non-smoking and the view still very nice but you give up the romance of out side dining. We traveled with 2 teen age daughters and they too had a pleasant dining experience. Out room had a wonderful city view and had nice Molten Brown toiletries. It was very clean and the people were so helpful. If I ever travel back to Prague I would stay here again. PS We liked this place even better than our stay at The Four Seasons in Budapest.

“Fabulous!!!”
This hotel is amazing. It is even more lovely than we expected. The location by the castle is very convenient and the staff are unbelievable. Service level here is consistent with what we have experienced at the Four Seasons but at a much more affordable level.
If you love Art Deco you will really enjoy both the rooms and publice spaces. Outstanding collection of unique pieces that really fit the ambiance of this historic building.
If you are arriving from the US as we did yesterday have them arrange for an airport pick up. Our driver Robert was waiting as we left customs and wisked us off to the hotel. The room and a welcome drink were here when we arrived. No waiting for a 3:00 pm check-in like the major hotels in California!
Highly, highly recommend this property.
