Thank you for your kind email.

Next time we stay with you I will know about the free wifi! We were so busy seeing the sights that I never thought to ask.
I believe the air conditioning was working properly. I think the fan systems were not as powerful as we would have liked but I must stress that we were delighted with everything and every person we came in contact with at the Golden Well.
We travel a considerable amount and are fortunate to experience, during those travels, meals created and prepared by some of the worlds most famous chefs. I must tell you that our last evening in Praha was spent having dinner in the lovely Terrace restaurant, to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. We most definitely saved the best for last! Simply put, it was the best meal I have ever had. Please convey our appreciation to the chef. The courses and the wine parings were extraordinary, exciting and delicious.

Thank you for your email. We arrived safely home (Johannesburg, South Africa) early on Friday 25 June having left Prague at midday on the 24 June. It was a long journey (via London) but we are happy to be home.

Yes we did enjoy a wonderful stay at your hotel. We found the the hotel was not only very comfortable and the staff going the extra mile to ensure that we had an enjoyable stay, but also a very good location. While we had used the public transport in the other cities that we visited on our trip – London, Paris, Salzburg and Vienna (we did not get to see Budapest this trip), the location of your hotel was so good, we were able to walk to the places we wanted to see. Having the hotel so close to the castle was also a bonus.

We are happy that you have already attended to the water temperature issue as we are sure that other patrons may have encountered the same frustration. Regarding the coffee in the room, this was such a minor issue and definitely not a complaint. Your wonderful breakfasts certainly made up for this very small issue.

This trip to Europe was our first together and we will definitely stay at your lovely hotel when we visit Prague again and will recommend it to our friends as well.

We can say that our stay at your wonderfull hotel has exceeded very much our expectations: it has been just perfect, the hotel is superb and the attention of the staff is unsurpassable. The only objection is that our stay has been too short to enjoy every possibility of your hotel (having dinner at the restaurant…). I am very glad to say I am very happy with my performance at the Prague International Marathon, one of the best courses I have ever run over the world (it has been a very remarkable and kind detail giving us the oportunity of a late check-out so I could recover from running the marathon). Also, the opera Rusalka was a great discovery, as well as the State Opera Theater. Thank you very much for your interest.

We are sorry for forgotting to fill in the satisfaction inquiry, so if you can send it to me via e-mail I would be very happy of sending it back to you with our opinions.

We are so delighted with our stay that we are making plans for a next visit to your hotel next year, so we can show Prague to our children in a longer stay. Thank you for your very kind letter and your concern regarding our home trip: the baby, his mother and myself had an easy trip back to Schiphol, for me a pleasant drive down tho the Ruszyne airport with Thomas & the hotel Mercedes; Thomas knows a lot about the Netherlands and we chatted very agreably!

My husband & youngest son ( the groom) had a much better journey back, being advised a different route with less traqfic congestion by the GPS system!
They only took 9 hours, inclusive of refuelling and having a break or two…

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your hotel: it is the first time in our widely & internationally travelled lives, that we could not think of ANY COMPLAINT or lacking commodity AT ALL!
Your staff are refreshingly kind, helpful, well organised and always willing and able to please the guests in any possible way: really outstanding!

The same goes for the premisses as well as the rooms, the restaurants, and, very special: the guests lounge with delicious refreshments, international papers, the computers, the WIFI and even a Dutch paper excerpt at the door of the bedroom, every single morning!

Your Top Cook deserves several Michelin stars and so does the breakfast cook: food, beverages, tables, service: everything perfect!

Don’t worry about the babysitter: your Lenka obviously adores children and they loved her! She did very well indeed.
We were very greatful for your quick and excellent resolve of the problem and the babies slipped Lenka a little attention.
Thank you for efficiently and adequately taking care of the issue!

We will certainly be back at your hotel, because, although this was our 4th trip to Prague, we still haven’t seen & enjoyed

Dear Mr. Safarik,

My wife and I truly appreciate your message as we well appreciated our stay at your fantastic hotel. Prague is a very interesting and beautiful city, and we did very much enjoy the rich cultural experience. The hotel is very beautiful and the staff made our stay very special. The level of customer service, the amenities and the many very thoughtful special touches were quite extraordindary and delightful. We actually continued our trip as planned and we are now in Vienna for just a few days before returning home, and I must tell you my wife and I cannot stop commenting on how amazing we think the Golden Well is. Although our hotel in Vienna is quite nice (Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof Wien), as Connie stated, the Golden Well is “a very tough act to follow” (extremely complimentary American idiomatic slang in case you are unfamiliar with the phrase), and I agree with her completely. There is really no comparison at all. In other words, the Golden Well totally spoiled us for anyone else!

With regard to the staircase carpets, although it presented no difficulty for us and we did not have any problem, my wife in particular is concerned that other patrons, especially those who are elderly or not as agile, might encounter some problem. We know that with your level of attention to hotel guests’ well being, it might be something to consider.

I would like to bring another small point to your attention that Connie did not mention when she filled out the questionnaire as she did not use the computer in the room, but there was some difficulty maintaining the wireless connection and it would frequently drop out when in use. I did use the wireless connection in the room daily to check for e-mails and work related messages, and there was some difficulty. As I am not a computer specialist, I do not know the possible cause, but I thought I should let you know. I can assure you that I did not miss or lose any messages, but it was, at times, a slight inconvenience.

Another thing I would like to praise highly, that we did not mention in the questionnaire, was the absolutely outstanding quality of the meals that we had at breakfast each morning and at our two dinners at the Terasa restaurant, as well as the evening I ordered room service. The chef is excellent!

When we have another opportunity to visit Prague, we cannot imagine staying anywhere else except the Golden Well, and we will recommend the Golden Well highly to any friends or family who plan to visit Prague.

Please thank your staff members personally again for us for helping to make our 16th wedding anniversary celebration one of the most memorable and wonderful experiences of our lives.

Dear Wonderfull staff at The Golden Well !
We arrived saftely home Wednesday evening, so the journey took exactly twenty four hours! We made all of our connections on time and our friend was waiting for us at Lille. The twelve hours on the night train was the most challenging as we were sharing with two other couples who were in the same situation, but we all had a bit of fun and got on together!
We would like to thank you all again for the fabulous sevice and for being so helpfull in our hour of need! nothing was too much trouble and we were always greeted with a smile. Many thanks to Stepan who recommended going to a small railway station to avoid the queues, he was right! and also to Stanislav who showed us the flight radar web site to see how many planes were in the air whenever he was at reception! He also gave us some very good Czech history lessons!
We would also like to thank the housekeeping staff as every room we stayed in was immaculate.
We had a fabulous anniversary break, and one we will remember for all the right reasons. Prague is a beautifull city with another architectural gem around every corner, we loved all the vistas from the high points, all the fairytale towers and red roofscape.
We would definately recomend The Golden Well as the perfect retreat for any occasion.
Thanks again for the lovely anniversary cake! and don’t forget to get some tram maps for your guests as these are invaluable to finding your way around the city!

Thank you for taking the time to write such a warm and friendly letter… .. it is unique to hear from a hotel once you`ve departed !! However, The Golden Well is unique and we had a wonderful stay with you. The hotel is perfection and all the members of staff are perfect ! We had a fabulous time and we will certainly be returning. Next time I shall be bringing my husband who is very jealous that he missed out on this trip !!
Visiting Prague has been an experience that I never thought would have been possible as I grew up in the 1960s. Our TV news at that time and the death of Jan Palach have remained very firmly in my head. It has been an amazing opportunity to visit your country and Prague is incredible … but I guess everyone tells you that !!

Fantastic. A real hidden and romantic retreat.

We treated ourselves to a trip to Prague for our Silver Wedding Anniversary, and to say we had a ball would be an understatement! This does rate as one of the best hotels we have stayed in.

We were met at the airport and taken to the hotel immediately, the welcome was warm and very friendly and although our room wasn’t ready (it was only 10.30am) we were taken up to the restaurant where we were given coffee, cakes and an introduction to the city.

We went out for a walk soon after and stumbled across a music festival in Old Town Square. Although the hotel ‘phoned us to let us know our room was ready, we were quite happy wandering around soaking up the atmosphere. Being January it was very cold, snow lay on the ground and day time temps hovered around -8′ (thank goodness for the thermals), but this not detract from the beauty of this fair city, in a way it added to the romance.

Eventually, craving a bit of warmth, we ventured back across Charles Bridge to the hotel, just in time for the afternoon treats (sweet & savoury canapes, tea, coffee & wine [including sparkly]).

Our room faced the palace gardens but this still gave us a side view of the city beyond the river. The room was large, warm and very comfortable; the bathroom & jacuzzi bath a delight, the addition of free WiFi throughout the hotel was very welcome and useful.

Breakfast was good, with the added benefit of a truly fantastic view! We ate dinner in town and were pleasantly surprised by the choice and quality of the food.

We did treat ourselves to a private City Guide for 3-4 hours, she was excellent and got us into places that we wouldn’t have dreamt of going to ourselves! We also took the funicular railway up to the Park at the top of Petrin Hil, and then climbed 299 steps to the top of the observation tower – the views from up here were just amazing.

We loved Prague and will definitely return, and when we do, we wouldn’t stay anywhere else – The Golden Well gets our vote every time!

It was a business trip….But, I have decided to come again soon in 2010 or in 2011..
with my wife..and stay at Golden Well only !!..

2. Peclivy pristup k vyberu spravneho pruvodce. Bylo nam velkym potesenim komunikovat se Svetlanou (pani Radovou). Dle naší skusenosti, ne vsichni hotely jsou schopni organizovat takovy servis;
3. Bajecna kuchin‘ Vasi restauraci, které spojuje moznost poznani tradicnych jidel a autorsky (kreativny) pristup v perfeknem provedeni;
4. Pozorny, pratelsky a profesionalny personal;
5. Velka otevrena zahrada pod oknami hotelu, která dava moznost uskutecneni privatnych oslav (svateb, karnevalu, koncertu atp) s tym, ze vsichni pozvane hoste budou bydlet v hotelu.

I had intended to leave you a note thanking you for our lovely stay but unfortunately ran out of time.

We both felt very privileged to stay at the Golden Well Hotel. Our experience was a very pleasurable one from the moment we were picked up at the airport, in your wonderful mercedes, and when we were greeted at the hotel by your very friendly and courteous reception staff, to the time we left.

We were very impressed with our initial tour of the hotel and always appreciated the effort made to greet us by name whenever we left or arrived back at the end of the day.

Infact every member of staff that we met was friendly and extremely helpful. This includes the porters, restaurant staff and the maid.

Our room was impeccable; very comfortable, luxurious, clean + relaxing. We loved the pillow menu and appreciated the beautiful touches left by Petra to make our room look beautiful; the sprinkled rose petals and the heart shaped designs left on valentines. We more than appreciated the wine and cake left for my birthday and enjoyed the lovely champagne and strawberries for valentines.

We had the most wonderful dinner in your lovely romantic restaurant on valentines night. The meal was one of the best I have ever tasted and the service was very attentive.

In all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your hotel. We appreciated the fact that the staff did everything possible to make our stay pleasant and were extremely attentive without being intrusive. The hotel was beautiful and we loved the sites of Prague.

I would not hesitate in recommending you to anyone and I think you thoroughly deserve your no. 1 spot on trip advisor.

You made my 40th birthday and valentines a very memorable experience – one I would love to repeat if I get the opportunity again.

Prague to Budapest is an easy drive, 5 to 6 hours. It’s almost all on expressways if you take the most direct route (east to Brno, south thru Bratislava), or you can take the slower route and go south from Prague toward Linz, then east past Vienna. The latter gives you the opportunity to see Cesky Krumlov & the Melk abbey. In either case get your directions from viamichelin.com

Dear Guest,

we appreciate your time spending on giving us valuable feedback. We apologize for the inconvenience with the towel warmer, which was not working,  but was fixed after you informed us. Regarding the TV problem, we regret to inform you that due to snow calamity “Daisy” we still haven’t been able to fix it; however, we are expecting a specialist coming in tomorrow.

Our strategy for the 2009 was to have breakfast included in all of our rates. This, however, lead to great number of comments describing the breakfast as not being up to standard of a 5 star hotel. We therefore decided to exclude the breakfast from our rates for 2010, giving our guests a choice of not having the breakfast at the hotel, or paying a little extra for Royal A’la Carte, all you can eat breakfast.

As we mentioned earlier, Prague is currently suffering from the worst snow calamity in last 50 years. Unfortunately, only the airport TAXIs are allowed to access the priority airport lanes next to arrival hall. Therefore our hotel limousines must park on nearby parking lot, which the guests have to walk to (of course with the assistance of our driver).

Please find this email though very wordy and long in length, please take the time to thank you entire staff, who we had the honor to experience during our stay at your hotel December 26-30 2009.
I have owned this Travel Agency for 24 years, so travel is nothing new to me and my family. Coming to your Hotel as a gift to wife celebrating her 50th Birthday, had to be a location that would be memorable to her, something she could look back and have something nice as a memento. Your staff has made this all come to attrition, we could not have been happier. To think of all the locations we could have chose to go to, narrowing it to Prague then one step further to your location,my agent who recommended it to us, could not have made a better choice.
I was for better words blown away by your staff, in the professionalism shown, the cleanness and set up of your location, as I put in my card, Bravo, Bravo, Bravo.
We were to check out of your property the day of December 29 my wife’s birthday and check into the Airport Holiday Inn, can you imagine that, The night of the 28th I made one last request to one of your employees who was working the front desk. After asking him if there was any way to extend our stay just one night, he told me that he would have contact the manager working that night to see if there was anything that could be done, now I know the easiest thing to do at this point was to do to nothing, not knowing how important it was for me give allow my wife this one last night at your property, which meant we could change all our plans for that day and evening. I know they probably didn’t know how important it was to me but shortly after I received a phone call and was told that there was a room available, I jumped on it, no questions asked.
I was able to give my wife this last day, enjoyed our last day and night the way we wanted to originally wanted to do. Your staff set up our transfers back to the Airport with a 0700 flight, your night worker even arranged a wake up call and had coffee and tea sent up at 0400 hrs. He show up with the coffee, took our luggage and made our departure as easiest as one could do.
Mr Safarik I am very impressed with the entire experience your staff and hotel made for us. I am not very good with words, but you don’t need a broad vocabulary to say from the bottom of my heart,”THANK YOU”.
From a business stand point if it every come up, in my clients request in recommendations, your Proper ty will be first on my list. You should be very proud of your staff, I know it was an honor to have met them, it was an equal honor to have stayed at your property, Your card will be with always, your property will be in thoughts permanently.

Good evening and thank you for your very nice letter.

My wife and I did very much enjoy our stay in your hotel. This was our fourth visit to Praha this year – and we visited your city in other years also. With U Zlaté Studně we have, finally, found the hotel for us. The location of the hotel is perfect for our trips around Praha. There could not be a better location – not even from the ancient family place at Loretánska, from where it is too far to explore Praha! By the way, my family sold the Palac already in 1850 – it was too expensive to run. The palac on Nerudova was purchased by the Rumanian Embassy in about 1935-1936. I was there as a little boy and did visit it again, by invitation of the Embassy, this year in March.

Superb also the decor of your house, the room’s furnishings, and above all the service. The personal attention given by each member of your staff is exceptional. I have been in many 5-star hotels around the world and it would have been nice if the staff had always been like yours.
As seasoned traveller I did find a few small items which I feel I can draw to your attention. None of the items distract from the general impression, but maybe are of interest to you.

You mention my note re the bathrobe size. Yes, this is a problem with most hotels. I am 1.94 m tall and very seldom there is a bathrobe to fit. Maybe another option for you, just like the pillows? And the slippers…… The bed: excellent, even long enough for me, and the sheets and the blanket are just perfect.

One item I did miss: The room identification. On your website we find that all Superior rooms have a name. Ours, no. 25, John Dee, is no exception. However, we did not find in the room any mention of this name. John Dee certainly was an exceptional man and his story, I am sure, would interest almost every one staying in this room. I did research the names of all your “room guardians” before coming to Praha. On the same topic: I would have loved to see a small brochure in the room, not only about the room’s name, but also with the story of the house. There were six houses, one with a most famous owner. How did you manage to make a hotel of the six houses? Lots of interesting historical and modern items which especially overseas visitors surely would love to read about.

Our room: Only problem was the alarm clock which went off in the deep night. And, after hitting the button on the top, back to sleep only to be woken again a few minutes later. How to turn this off? Bathroom: Excellent but a safety bar to hold onto while enjoying the wonderful rain shower would have given me a feeling of safety. The shower is at the end of the tub, and there the slope of the tub is steep and you can easily slip. The safety bar on the wall would be a great asset. The bathroom door does not close properly. The hinge creaked the first night and your staff lubricated it.

It now is winter and many people have heavy overcoats. Where should I hang my heavy, wet coat? There are nowhere any hooks. Not on the entrance room’s door, the bathroom only has little hooks which are occupied by the bathrobes. Best place? Dump them on the floor? Hang the wet coat in the cupboard?

Your website: Well maintained and often changed. In the description of rooms 12 and 42, Bruno & Maisel, you do have a typing errors. It should be Ledebur Gardens, not Ledeburg, neither should it be Ledebourg. Similar error in the description of the Tycho Brahe suite. One of my grandmothers was a Ledebur.

Finally a question: Your electric radiators, both in the room and in the public spaces are just what I am looking for. Can you let me know where they come from?

Mr. Šafařík, you do manage a wonderful boutique hotel. Keep the standards up!

We had a fantastic time in Prague and most in particular at your hotel. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and are pretty sure to come back, and “why ooh why” would we try another hotel when we’re so content of your’s…

ve Vašem hotelu U Zlaté Studně se nám moc líbilo a určitě se při příští příležitosti v něm znovu ubytujeme. Byli jsme nadšeni především neopakovatelnou atmosférou celé budovy, zvláště pak našeho pokoje a restaurace. Jídlo podávané v restauraci bylo excelentní a velmi těžko se hledá srovnání (nejen v ČR). Nesmírně nás potěšilo i to, že během oběda zavítal k našemu stolu pan majitel, dotazoval se na naši spokojenost a nechal nám přinést pralinky. Ještě nikdy jsme pobytem v hotelu nebyli tak nadšeni (procestovali jsme hodný kus světa)!

The whole experiemce was magical and the standard of service the best I have ever experienced. You seem to have a young and very enthusiastic team in the hotel and all the better for that. It is really a pleasure having received this friendly message from you – even more since it was not to be expected and I have never experienced something like that after a stay in other hotels and never had heared it from somebody else. But now I feel it is somehow only the logical completion of an weekend that was by far outshining every single other stay in any other hotel.

The two of us felt  truly pampered in every thinkable respect. There was the beautiful and lovely atmosphere of the house, the beauty of the views, the soothing quietness and – above all – the marvellous attentiveness and care of your staff. I only wished my English would be better in order to express our feelings …

As the medical director of a large university hospital, I am actively involved in improving patient satisfaction throughout the institution; this is no easy task. Many of the tactics employed effectively by your staff are ones that we are working to instill in our hospital employees, students, nurses and doctors. Whatever customer satisfaction training you provide to your staff it has paid off in spades (excuse the idiom). If I had 50 Anastasias in key positions in my hospital I’d have the highest satisfaction ratings of any university hospital in the county. The gentleman that followed Anastasia on the night shift is also a fine employee whom we enjoyed speaking with. In building a strong patient satisfaction program, I have been reviewing the hotel industry’s top businesses and have recently read The New Gold Standard by Joseph Michelli, a book about the Ritz-Carlton approach to delivering top notch customer service by aligning every employee to the importance they make in the overall guest experience. Whether you’ve read it or not, the Golden Well staff fit the Ritz-Carlton definition of engaged employees. Keep up the good work. As an aside, our younger daughter was so impressed with the hotel and Prague that she says she wants to stay at the Golden Well for her honeymoon. We had a great time and it was wonderful for our daughters to visit their mother’s birth country and see the fantastic history and culture of the proud Czech people and visit their relatives for the first time. We’ll be back.

It is difficult to express how much we enjoyed our recent stay in your hotel. Your staff was incredible! Kind, attentive to detail, thoughtful in every way and very professional. We especially enjoyed the incredible cuisine prepared so carefully and served with such grace and elegance. The wait staff in the restaurant was second to none; just fabulous. I only wish I had written down all their names to give personal credits. Ayman and Michela and Lukas I do remember and please let them know how much they were appreciated. Also the two young men who waited on us in the restaurant for dinner on Monday evening (11-3-2008) were outstanding.
